Spring Cleaning for your Weber Q (Gas or Electric)

by Jenn

You have made a great investment with your Weber Q Grill and these following tips should keep your grill working its best to look shiny and new.

Cleaning your Weber Q:

  1. Before we begin I recommend wearing gloves, having your grill brushes handy, and a plastic scraper.  Make sure the grill is cool, brush or scrap off built-up carbon on the underside of the lid.

  2. For Gas models, it is recommended to clean your burner tubes 1-2 times a year.  To clean the debris from your burner tube, take a clean brush and move across the burner tube.  DO NOT go the length of the burner. For electric models DO NOT brush the heating element.

  3. Use your scraper to remove any debris on the sides and bottom of the cook box.  Scrap all the collected debris into the drip pan.

  4. Replace the drip pan after cleaning the catch tray.   You should always check you drip pan before grilling

  5. For Gas models you should inspect all hoses for any cracks or abrasions.  Using a soapy water solution, dab a small amount of the mixture of dish soap and water to all the connections.  With your control knobs in the off position, turn on the gas. If you see bubbles start to form, there is a leak.  DO NOT USE THE GRILL! Please note if you are not comfortable doing this test, please phone a specialist in your area.
